The monthly Kongra Star newsletter is out! In this newsletter for the month of September 2024, will inform you about Kongra Star’s activities and events related to the women’s movement in North and East Syria.
September 16 of this year marked the second anniversary of the death of Jina Amini, who was murdered by the Iranian ‘morality police’. With numerous activities and a statement by Kongra Star, people across North and East Syria commemorated her death and the courage of the many women who took to the streets in the aftermath. They renewed their promise to carry the Jin, Jiyan Azadî philosophy further into the world.
Part of any women’s revolution that strives for true women’s liberation is a profound knowledge of women about the systems that oppress them and the renewal of the knowledge that can liberate them. At least that was the assessment of the Second Jineolojî Conference, which was held in September and which we report on here.
Also in September, the Şehîd Berçem festival of the women’s art and culture movement, Hîlala Zêrin, took place in Kobanê. The festival took place with great participation and a strong will to defend their own culture against oppression and dictatorship.
