Trust in women not in states – 2nd week of Global Action Month

Global action weeks in January

“Women Defend Rojava” has called for global weeks of action in January. Under the heading “We are not silent! We will defend the women’s revolution in Rojava!” the campaign aims to draw public attention to the events in northern and eastern Syria through numerous actions. It is important to support the people of Syria in building a democratic system instead of simply appointing new rulers.

Recognize the Democratic Autonomous Administration!

The Democratic Autonomous Administration in North and East (DAANES) of Syria built up a system based on women’s liberation, ecology and basis democracy. For peace and democracy in Syria, it is essential for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to be recognized worldwide – so that it can have a positive influence for the whole of Syria. In Syria there are living many different ethnicities and religions that should not be homogenized by one nation-state. It is time for different solutions and the DAANES has already implemented it. Currently, Turkey is attacking the DAANES massively especially around Tishreen Dam. That is a direct attack on the Autonomous Administration and the system that has been built up.

20 years of the women’s movement Kongra Star!

January 15th is founding day of the women’s umbrella organization Kongra Star, which is active in Northern and Eastern Syria. It is part of the struggle for women’s freedom and rights in the region and beyond. 20 years of Kongra Star therefore also means 20 years of achievements of the women’s revolution in Rojava. That includes organized women structures in the legal system, in the political system of self-administration and in self-defence.

The Global Action Month continues

During the next two weeks the action month continues. We will fight against the weapon industry and for free press around the globe. Furthermore, we call for actions for Kobane day on the 26th of January. 10 years ago Kobane was liberated from ISIS. As we fought then for women’s liberation and Rojava, we will do it now by defending Tishreen Dam.
