Listen here to our daily update:
Dear comrades and friends,
We are back with our daily update from Rojava. Here the Syrian Transitional Government’s war of aggression, supported by Turkey, continues. Today, there were clashes and heavy drone attacks in the small town of Çil Axa, located between Qamishli and the Iraqi border.
The SDF was able to repel the attacks. Furthermore, militias attempted to advance in the rural region around Kobani, as they have in recent days. They were also successfully pushed back there. The situation in Kobani remains dire. Aldar Xelîl of the PYD party, a democratic NES party supporting DAANES, said in an interview with the ANF news agency:
“Cutting off the supply of all essential goods to an entire city is an attempt to annihilate these people. This constitutes an attempted genocide.”
So, despite the ceasefire, the attacks continue unabated. It feels almost ridiculous to keep mentioning this ceasefire. Yesterday, a video was released showing a screen from a command center displaying GPS data and Turkish commands. Further proof that the attacks are not only supported by Turkey but also commissioned by it. I want to reiterate that in the Aleppo attacks, wounded Asaij fighters told us they saw soldiers with the IS emblem on their chests and the Turkish flag on their arms, and many of them were speaking Turkish. Aldar Xelîl also spoke about the ceasefire. He analyzes that the US, by deploying IS mercenaries—which is considered the reason for the current ceasefire – is pursuing the goal of sowing unrest in Iraq. He says: “Should such a situation develop in Iraq, it would mean that one of the fronts that Iran has established for its self-defense would be attacked.” And he continues: “The problem is not limited to Rojava; it is a plan directed against the entire region.”
With this, he is referring to the Great Middle East Project, which began with the Iraq War under US leadership. The goal is to redraw the Middle East, make it accessible to the capitalist market, and, above all, to place the entire Middle East under US control. The interests of the US are clear, and its relationship with the Syrian Transitional Federal Government and its support for the war of aggression against Rojava must also be understood within this GMEP. In this, we see how the jihadist IS mentality does not contradict the interests of the USA, because both are fascist and sexist actors. The resistance in Rojava remains determined to defend the achievements of their revolution. The morale of all those keeping watch on the streets remains high. Today we visited the injured in the hospital, victims of drone attacks in recent days. Their morale, as well as that of the people working in the hospital, is high. I am constantly moved by how pain and defiant beauty are not contradictory, but rather generate enormous strength. Resistance continues in the rest of the world as well. Young people from East and South Kurdistan who came to Rojava to join the defense have issued a statement:
“As young people from Rojhilat and Başûr, we came to Rojava to defend our land. For us, there are no borders – wherever the Kurdish people need protection, we are ready to fight.”
And the convoy knows no borders either… You know that better than we do. We send a lot of strength to everybody struggeling right now.
Revolutionary greetings from Rojava
