Listen here to the daily update:
Dear friends, sisters and comrades
Today is the 13th February and here is our daily update from Rojava, from the heart of the women’s revolution. where right now humanity and life are being defended.
Like every day, a lot is happening on the streets of Rojava.
While the armed attacks by the Syrian Transitional Government on the Autonomous Administration have decreased in recent weeks, the Syrian transitional forces is now employing stealthy strategies. Currently, the Syrian Transitional Government is conducting several unofficial operations aimed at gradually transforming and increasing fascism to Syrian system from within. We can see that these processes are developing daily, beyond the scope of official agreements.
The processes of oppression and change are widespread in Syria. In Raqqa and Tabqa, as well as in other parts of Syria where the new transitional government is now taking over, school textbooks are being changed and adapted to Sharia law. Women in Raqqa and Tabqa are familiar with these steps; they have already experienced life under ISIS control firsthand.
We really recommend the short documentary “blooming in the desert”, it is not on the Kongra star website. It is about what women were building up in Raqqa, its beautiful and due to the current situation, very painful.
Since the beginning of the attacks, we have observed the war strategy of divide and rule. Here, too, insidious and subtle processes are taking place. This strategy is being employed both in the societies of Northeast Syria and throughout the Middle East.
For example, we have heard that HTS groups are specifically targeting Arab families to exert violent influence over them. They are trying to find out if these people are connected to the Kurds and the revolution. If the groups make connections, the family is put under pressure; they are not only threatened with kidnapping and murder, but the threats also become reality.
Yesterday, a friend told us the story of an arab man who has contact with Kurds. After HTS forces found out about this, the friend’s sister was kidnapped. After a few days, she was able to return home. However, her life has drastically changed since then. She no longer speaks, we can see this as an effect of trauma.
Today Mazloum Abdi (representing the SDF) and Ilham Ahmed (representing DAANES) are in Germany, attending the Munich security conference. The conference is attended by heads of states from 50 countries plus other representatives.
Its a necessary step in the political recognition of Rojava. The inclusion of Ilham Ahmed and Mazloum Abdi marks a significant recognition of Rojava in building up Syria post Asad.
every year there are big protests happening against this conference because it is a conference where states meet to further their war agendas. The attendance of Abdi and Ahmed might seem like a contradiction at first however we must understand it as part of the politics of avoiding war where boycotting opportunity for diplomacy is not a solution.
In an interview with jinha news agency Fawza Youssef, a member of the Presidential Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and also a member of the negotiating committee, warned that we should all be prepared for all scenarios. This is always important to remember. The situation is very fragile right now. Kobani is still under seige, what has happened over the past month has not stopped, nor will it anytime soon. War may still continue and flair up, so we should always be ready for action if called upon.
Finally, we would like to report on the Women’s Conference in Bogotá. Columia, Under the motto:
“We will flourish, because war cannot destroy our roots”
the conference will take place in Bogotá from February 11-14, 2026. Four hundred women from Indigenous, feminist, and anti-colonial movements from Abya Yala, Kurdistan and the parts of the world, have come together to discuss strategies against patriarchy, capitalism, and colonial exploitation, and to build transnational alliances of hope. Especially in times of a third world war, women’s greatest strength and defense lies in coming together, uniting, and sowing hope.
And with that we wish you revolutionary greetings from rojava.
