Message from Rojava – 23.02.2026

Listen here to the daily update:

Dear friends, sisters and comrades,

Today is the 23rd February an here is our daily update from Rojava from the heart of the women’s revolution.

Today there have been further talks with the Internal security forces of the Autonomous Administration and the minster of defence of the Syrian transitional government. They visited places in Raqqa and Sheik Maqsoud and Ashrafier to discuss practical plans on how displaced people can return safely and with dignity.

ISIS declaring jihad on HTS

2 days ago, the spokes person for ISIS made a statement. This is the first official ISIS message in 2 years. In his words he attacks the Syrian and Turkish governments declaring that in Syria one infidel system has been replaced by another. He accuses Jolani of acting as a border guard for Israel. He also praised ISIS affiliates in Central Africa and Mozambiqu for attacks on Christians.

He called for renewed attacks on the Anti ISIS coalition and on the Syrian government

On the 20th they attacked in Deir Ez Zor and killed 3. Raqqa yesterday. They have claimed 6 people killed, all part of the Syrian government security forces.

ISIS and The Syrian transitional government are different groups, but they share a mentality of patriarchy, homogeneity and violence. Their opposition from each other comes from both forces competing to whose gets to impose absolute authority.

We can already see some media giving this as an example of why the Syrian transitional government is not that bad, why they are different from ISIS, hiding their shared roots. They were the ones who opened the ISIS prisons, when the Syrian government delegation came to Heseke they were the ones showing the one god one power symbol, made famous by ISIS, they were the ones who cut out a fighters heart and took his eyes, the ones who threw comrade Denis off a building the ones who started a brutal war causing terror across Syria, the ones who committed massacres on the Druz and Aliwites.

Jolani and ISIS being against each other is not confusing, they share a patriarchal fascist Islamist mentality. It is a battle for power.

Shengal

We must keep very close eye on Shengal and be ready to act when needed.

After the Turkish foreign minister suggested the Iraqi army should attack the Yazid defence forces, the Iraqi military has set up a new military base by the Shengal.

Turkish army occupies large parts of northern Iraq, which is south Kurdistan. The have know started building new military road in this region. It looks like it is preparing to be able to move military equipment, and soldiers through this route. Over the past years, dozens of Turkish military points, bases, and strategic roads have been established along the border strip. Like the Iraqi military they are also preparing for an attack.

The KJK (Kurdistan women’s communities) made a statement about this:

“The Middle East is passing through a critical juncture. It must either adopt a democratic solution in accordance with the vision put forth by the leader Abdullah Ocalan and develop radical solutions to its problems, or it will continue its current policies of denial and be condemned to all forms of destruction.”

The statement referred to the “second conspiracy of February 15,” which began with the attack on Rojava, explaining that this conspiracy continues today through a plan targeting Shengal, deeming that any military operation or attempt to end the region’s Autonomous administration would be tantamount to a second ISIS attack on the Yazidis.

“The attacks on Shengal constitute genocide against women, Kurds, and religious beliefs

5 kurdish parties form alliance in Rojhilat

In Rojhilat, (East Kurdistan which is in Iran) 5 Kurdish parties have formed an alliance in order to continue to work and struggle together in response to the current stage and political situation in the country.

In a joint statement they stated:

“Our main goal is to struggle for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran and to achieve the right of self-determination for the Kurds, enabling the establishment of a national and democratic entity based on the national political will of the Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan. We will support protests and movements across Iran against the Islamic Republic at this stage. Any cooperation or agreement with other parties will be based on the recognition of the national rights of peoples, acceptance of democracy, and rejection of all forms of dictatorship.”

The statement emphasized:

“We believe in environmental protection, social justice, equality between men and women, promoting free elections, ensuring the basic rights of all ethnic and religious components in Kurdistan, and building a democratic administrative system in Eastern Kurdistan to ensure the country’s security. We consider this our duty.”

Kobani

Koabni is still under siege! We must keep up international pressure.

Each night, after Iftar, mothers in Kobani continue to take up the defence of the city. In an interview the mothers renew their pledge to their children to continue to protect the city.

Salima Ramadan, a sixty-year-old woman stands at one of the main streets in Kobani and says: “We do not fear the siege, because this is not the first time this policy has been imposed on us, and because we have learned to face all circumstances forced upon us, we continue our resistance.”

She affirmed, “We do not delegate our protection and existence to any state or any external forces. We bet on victory through the will of our children and our revolutionary people,” recalling Kobani’s resistance against ISIS in 2014: “We will triumph just as we triumphed before. We are not accustomed to defeat; we are accustomed to progress and victory.”

Salima Ramadan has three sons fighting on the frontlines: “My sons, alongside their fellow fighters, protect the city from any potential attack, and we mothers inside the city maintain stability from any threat,” stressing that civilians should not fear any attack because they are always ready for protection and defense.

“Defense and protection are our decision.”

And with that we send your revolutionary greetings from Rojava.
